Sylvia Edward, M.A., LCMHCA
Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate

What I Work With

I work primarily with adults navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship concerns, and life transitions. I have a special interest in perinatal mental health, supporting individuals through pregnancy, postpartum, and the emotional changes that come with parenthood. I also welcome partners and spouses who are adjusting to these changes or seeking support for their own mental health.

Background & Training

I’m Sylvia Edward, MA, LCMHCA, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in North Carolina. I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Walla Walla University and my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. My experience includes working with children, adolescents, adults, and couples. My additional training includes EMDR through an EMDRIA-approved program, Interpersonal Therapy (IPT/IPT-A), and perinatal mental health through Postpartum Support International.

How I Work

My approach is warm, down-to-earth, person-centered, evidenced-based and trauma-informed. I strive to create a space where you feel safe, seen, and comfortable being yourself. Together, we’ll explore what you’re experiencing, recognize patterns, and build practical skills that fit your life. I draw from EMDR, IPT, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), tailoring our work to your needs and goals while moving at a pace that feels manageable and realistic.
