Education & Experiences
I am a Doctor of Psychology, licensed Psychological Associate. I have over 10 years of experience and training working with diverse populations in multiple settings. I’ve provided psychotherapy and testing services to men, women, and children whose ages ranged from 7 years to 85 years. Most recent, a former psychologist with the Fayetteville VA Medical Center, I provided Evidence-Based individual and group Psychotherapy services to a veteran population of adult men and women who consisted of a broad demographic range (e.g., ethnicity, age, gender, orientation), and having mild to severe mental illnesses.
My therapy orientation is driven by an integrative approach. I have adopted a cognitive-behavior and recovery-based model, with each individual session tailored to meet patient-client needs. I specialize in treating DSM-5 disorders, to include Trauma-Related Disorders. I am recognized for facilitating evidenced-based trauma groups for males. I also specialize in facilitating mindfulness meditation and relaxation groups.
Lastly, I am the owner and founder of Mental Health Talk LLC, where we work to promote open dialogue around mental health, reduce stigma, and encourage engagement. I am also the publisher and chief editor of the Mental Health Talk magazine that is a well-rounded publication that seeks to bridge gaps between mental health and medical health. Its’ content allows readers an opportunity to understand the basis of issues surrounding mental health, medical health, and problems associated with unique populations (e.g., military, law enforcement, men, etc.) that may warrant modified approaches when engaged in mental health services.
My goal is to work together with individuals on developing insight and awareness into one's presenting concerns, while building or strengthening coping skills necessary at living meaningful lives.
